In Perspectives

As 2014 draws to an end, I thought it would be fun to retrace our steps and highlight some of our favorite burger joints from throughout the year. I have broken out three categories: best atmosphere, most eccentric burger and favorite burger.

Best Atmosphere:
The burger joint that had the best atmosphere was Broadway Bar. Broadway Bar is located on the northwest side of Grand Rapids and does not disappoint. The bar has been around for over 20 years and has all sorts of memorabilia from wall to wall. If you get a chance to go to Broadway near a holiday do not pass it up because the bar is always decked out for any holiday occasion. Aside from the great atmosphere, the Broadway Bar also has delicious burgers!

Most Eccentric Burger:
The burger joint that had the most eccentric burger was The Bull’s Head Tavern. The burger I sampled at Bull’s Head was called “The Brunch Burger” and was made up of all of the fixings, including lettuce, ketchup, mustard, tomato, etc. The special additions were ham, bacon and a fried egg. The combination of beef, ham and fried egg was surprisingly delicious – and one that I had never tried before.

Favorite Burger:
Drumroll please……….

And the favorite burger award of 2014 goes to The Cheshire Grill!! The Cheshire Grill is located in the heart of Cheshire Village on Plainfield. They have a huge burger menu to choose from, so if you are unable to find something you like here than maybe burgers aren’t your thing. I was fortunate enough to try the “Spinner’s Olive Grin” which comes loaded up with sliced green olives, swiss cheese and a homemade olive sauce. The grin lived up to its name because I was smiling from the very first bite. The burger was made to perfection and was accompanied by a heaping stack of beer battered fries. I would recommend trying out The Cheshire Grill if you ever find yourself on the north side of town.

Happy New Year from Legacy Trust! May 2015 be filled with many delicious burgers!
